Talk by Prof. Roy Baumeister
On Wednesday, June 14, 16:00-17:30, Prof. Roy Baumeister (Mercator Fellow of the RTG Social Dynamics of the Self) will give a talk on "The Power of the Bad".
Abstract
This talk explores an important and fundamental truth about the human mind, namely its tendency to overreact to bad things and to be more strongly affected by negative than positive events. It is based on my 2001 literature review that has been cited nearly ten thousand times in the scientific literature, and a 2019 book (coauthored with John Tierney) that extends the implications into society, politics, health, business, and more.
